Teaching Day 1

Today was our first day of teaching! As a team, we woke up at 6AM in order to do our devotions together at 6:30am, and then the guys got breakfast for us while the girls stayed behind to clean up the room and prepare for the day's events. (This is going to become our regular routine). We start off our day with Singspiration, and then separate into our 5 classes and begin to teach. There are 75 kids here and 5 separate classes. We all had a lot of fun teaching, although there were many challenges and many very hyperactive children! Here are some photos and some prayer requests, we REALLY would appreciate your prayers because we are facing a lot here!

1st/2nd Grade - Anna and Elean: Please pray for us to know how to divide our attention among our students. We have 22 small children, the youngest in the camp. We also have a 3 year old (she needs extra attention), and a mentally disabled girl, so we are working hard to try to give each child adequate attention. In addition, we found out that our ABC lesson plans are no longer applicable because the children are more advanced that we predicted, so we are preparing new lesson plans every night, which is extra work for our team. May God help us to think on our toes!

3rd Grade - Norman and Esther and Vivian: Please pray that they can learn to control their kids more, especially the noise level, as they are sharing a classroom with the 5th/6th graders. They have about 20 very enthusiastic children.

4th Grade - Jacqueline and Victor and Isaac: Please pray that they can also learn how to handle their class, which is the most enthusiastic and energetic. They also have one child with ADHD who is extremely hard to handle, pray that they may have patience and wisdom in learning how to teach and love him!

5th/6th Grade - Karen and April: Please pray that they can learn how to capture the attention of the oldest children, as they seem bored with camp and unwilling to respect and listen to their teachers. Pray that Karen and April can learn to speak with authority over their students.

Thanks so much for reading. God is already teaching us so many lessons in patience, wisdom, and love! May we continue to keep our energy levels high as we tackle another day of teaching!

  1. Good morning! (Evening? Whatever...) It's weird, I almost feel like a part of me is over there with you guys. (The Empress of Wudu is WATCHING...YOUUUUUU)

I used Psalm 121 to pray over you guys this morning.

    (v. 1-2)
I lift up my eyes to the hills--
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the maker of heaven and earth.
    (v. 7-8)
The LORD will keep you from all harm--
    He will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

God, I just pray protection and assurance for the team, each and every person. Guard them against sickness, fatigue, impatience, despair. Assure them of Your love, understanding, power, and forgiveness. May they go into the next days confident of your presence, and may the children see You shining through them.

One suggestion: to deal with special-needs students (and in general), create a mutual learning environment where you can enlist other students to help their peers. Model this yourselves by cooperating with other teachers, then ask the children to help each other learn and behave well.

    Blessings!!

  2. Pray that you have the wisdom to cope with what daily changes/challenges throw at you. I have seen the flexibility in re-organizing the groups and coming up with new teaching materials at nights based on the reality. Good training, very useful life survial skills. God Bless.

  6. Hey, what up ya'll, my brothers and sisters in Christ, yeaaahhh!!! Hope ya'll having a swell time bring people to the Lord. A lot of people here in the States have your back and are constantly praying for your physical health and spiritual health. I especially pray for the children of Taiwan, they are the future of Taiwan, and with God's teaching can make the people of Taiwan come to the Lord.

    Now here's my prayer:
Lord, I ask you to lift up the 4C Team, as they are doing your work. They need courage, strength, and your wisdom to further your holy mission. I pray that they may be renewed in your Name. Renewed in spirit and passion for You, Lord God. You have already brought so much in their lives already, continue to bring them more great things in their lives. Let them continue to be a testimony of your greatness, Lord. Father, I pray for the Taiwanese students. I pray that you would open up their hearts for you. Let them chase after you with a loving spirit. Tear down any barriers that they might have in them, that is stopping them from seeking you, I also pray this to the 4C Team. Settle their hearts down for you and let them hear your Word. I thank you Lord that you've have already brought enthusiasm to the children to learn. I also pray that you keep these children and especially the 4C Team safe form the enemy, stop the enemy from entering their hearts. But most of all, shower you love unto them as you have did unto us. Show them, that you are a loving, gentle, and kind God. Perform miracles in front of them, show them your power. Show them that they have a place in Your arms. Show them how to be free. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

That's it for now. I'll continue to blog you guys. Until next time, stay strong in the Lord!!!

P.S. Those of you might have heard that my grandpa owns a couple restaurants in Taiwan, well its pretty pricy, I wouldn't suggest going there. It might empty you wallets after the first meal. Lol.
